Duel of the Skates

The Alamo Studio, in conjunction with Kalamazoo Wings, is excited to premiere “Duel of the Skates.” The documentary, named after the famous John Williams piece “Duel of the Fates,” captures one city’s attempt to set a Guinness World Record for “World’s Largest Lightsaber Battle.” Needing over 5,000 participants to compete for 3.5 minutes, this is not an easy task. Uniting Star Wars fans and hockey fans, the behind-the-scenes staff goes to work figuring out exactly how difficult it can be to set an official world record.

“We didn’t know big this could get, or how complicated it would be…. There’s a lot of rules, and a lot of regulations just to make sure it’s official,” says John Peterson, Kalamazoo Wings Director of Public Relations. We’ve been working on this since June.” But will they make it?

  • Watch as movie fans, sports fans, and Jedi unite in an attempt to take home the world record for something everyone wants to be a part of – the world’s largest lightsaber battle.
  • Featuring a behind-the-scenes view of how this became possible, what details needed to go into it, and the winning of a World Record.
