Iron Giant 2.0

The Iron Giant is a classic 1999 animated film that mixed both older, traditional styling’s along with computer animation. A gentleman by the name of Ted Hughes wrote the original novel in 1968. Set in 1957 during the cold war a young boy named Hogarth Hughes discovers and befriends the giant robot who fell from space. With the help of beatnik artist Dean McCoppin, they attempt to prevent the U.S. military and Kent Mansley, a paranoid federal agent, from finding and destroying the Giant.

40 Years after the events of Rockwell, Kent Mansley talks about his life spent tracking down the Iron Giant.

This short film shows Kent Mansley continue his search. We get some pretty nifty CGI of the Iron Giant in the mix. It’s a fun little film bestowing nostalgia over the original feature. I haven’t seen the movie in years. I find myself now wanting to go back and giving it another view.
