Star Wars: Dresca

A brand new, professionally-made Star Wars fan film is now available online. Written and directed by Jessica Champneys, “Star Wars: Dresca” takes place immediately after Return of the Jedi, and shows the story of Dresca (Meleane Maile), an injured Imperial pilot who is rescued by Rebels after the Battle of Endor. Created by a team of indie fans and industry professionals, the short film has already won awards in several festivals, including Best Short Film, Best Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, and more.

The film can be found on the director’s YouTube channel. Even more Star Wars: Dresca goodies can be found on the Official Site, FaceBook, and Twitter.

We believe “Star Wars: Dresca” will appeal to fans across the board; combining callbacks to the original trilogy with new twists and darker themes. The film cleaned house at the LA Shorts Awards, Mindfield Film Festival, NYC Indie Film Awards, Oniros Film Awards, and the International Independent Film Awards, taking home several Diamond and Platinum awards. The full list of awards can be found on the festival websites. The film has also been officially selected for the Cosmic Film Festival, the May Day Film Festival, the Rome Elephant Film Awards, and more.

“Star Wars: Dresca” is the indie film that refuses to be an indie film, going the extra mile to bring you back to that galaxy far far away. Professional digital effects are combined with practical props, live action stunts, classic Star Wars locations, and movie-quality sets. It’s almost impossible to believe that the film’s 360° Imperial base set was built in a tiny two-car garage!

Money may talk, but passion drives. After $20,000 and more than 2 years of production, we are excited to share our Star Wars fan film with the world.
