Joker

Chris R. Notarile through his Blinky Productions delivers yet another classic fan film. This time out Chris tackles the character of the Joker. I guess that’s rather obvious due to the title of this short production.

Following the Joker during his twisted beginnings after his disfigurement, we find the clown prince of crime working as a hit man. Still rough around the edges and not as refined as we know him to be, the Joker and Harley Quinn go on a job to silence a cop who’s been asking too many questions.

I’ve talked about Blinky before in other posts so it’s hard to add anything new, but let’s give it the old college try.

The short fan film is simplistic. As it many Blinky productions it takes place in one location, is short in length and the story is pretty generic. Not saying this is a bad fan film. It just seems it was probably shot in one night. And unlike a lot of Blinky films, this one is actually acted pretty well. It seems more times than most the acting is done by people that haven’t acted in their life.

Bryan Bockbrader is the Joker. I applaud his Joker as his version is pretty unique to the other Jokers we’ve seen in the past. He does put his own spin on the character which is always refreshing among the dozens of Heath Ledger I’ve seen in countless fan films. Bockbrader went on to have a part in the independent comedy Ron and Laura Take Back America. That movie also starred Jim J. Bullock, Judi Evans and Sally Kirkland. Those are some actors I haven’t seen in years. Like the 80’s.

Deanna Miller who plays Harley Quinn isn’t given much to do, but with her limited presence she portrays a pretty decent Harley. The Joker fan film is her only acting credit. She did very well with no experience behind her.

Jeremy Craven plays the guy that gets the crap beaten out of him. Craven actually went on to have bit parts in some well-known shows. I find that very cool.
