Anyone remember a small almost unknown cartoon called Batman: The Animated Series? Hardly anyone ever watched it. The show never did get a very good following. It just disappeared into obscurity never to be heard from again. On second thought I may be thinking of Steven Spielberg and Harve Bennett’s Invasion America.
Batman: The Animated Series was the ground breaking series that defined what the Batman really is. In my opinion, it’s the best adaption of the caped crusader to date. Kevin Conroy voiced Bruce Wayne/Batman flawlessly. And is there no better Joker ever than Mark Hamill.
The Gotham Girls web series is a direct spin off of the Animated Series starring characters such as Batgirl, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn and Catwoman. This was an online flash series playing free on the WB website.
Gotham Girls is an American Flash animation series about the females of Gotham City, created and produced jointly by Warner Brothers and Noodle Soup Productions. Episodes starred Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Batgirl, Catwoman and Zatanna in short stories of varying length about the daily lives of the characters (from the DC Comics universe).
These are official episodes so not fan films, but I always stretch the rules at times to put cool content on the site. This series actually got my Fan Film Follies YouTube account suspended. I had an account where I uploaded the individual episodes. Someone out there didn’t like that and to this day I’m no longer able to use that account. This was a few years back. I reached out to YouTube a couple times to see if I can get it active again and they basically told me to go to hell. Although, other people have the episodes posted on their YouTube accounts so figure that one out.
Even know this was an online flash web series it’s still up there with the quality of the original animated Batman show. You have all the original voices in play and it’s just a fun series of shorts.
