Batman vs. Star Trek

Holly Fan Films, Batman. There was actually a Batman vs. Star Trek fan film made and released in 2006. We’ve come a long way from the Prime Minister’s exploding cake. Or have we?

A fan film based on the 1960’s television shows Star Trek and Batman. In a time warp, the crew of the USS Enterprise arrives in 1967 to encounter the Dynamic Duo. An explosive and fun confrontation between two of the greatest TV shows of all time!

I wasn’t even alive when both these shows originally aired. Luckily, someone created reruns. I’d come home from elementary school to watch afternoon cartoons and of course the 1960s Batman series. It seemed so very cool back when I was a kid. Not so much in modern day. It’s pretty bad. So bad it’s good.

Star Trek, on the other hand, I could never get into until I was in my 20s. I tried to watch it as a kid and it really didn’t do much for me. When VHS rental was the rage I started picking up three or four episodes a week. The addiction began. And once The Next Generation started I turned into a bonafide Trekkie.

To see these two shows mashup is almost close to insanity. Only an insane mind would think to make a fan film pitting the caped crusader against the intergalactic stud. Batman vs. Kirk, more cheese than one person should digest in one lifetime.

The costumes and sets are outstanding. They even have an imitation Lincoln Futura Batmobile driving around.

Batman vs. Star Trek did have sound issues. It seems like they just utilized the audio from whatever camera they were using. The acting is what you would expect from a fan film. My big regret when watching the fan film is the gentleman that played Kirk didn’t give that chopped up performance Shatner did in the original Trek series. You know what I mean, when Shatner had to give short pauses after every syllable.
