Batman: A Death In The Family

Based on the award-winning comic-book of the same name written by Jim Starlin with art by Jim Aparo this Fan Film brings to life the confrontation between Batman and the Joker after the Joker has taken the life of young Jason Todd a.k.a. Robin the Boy Wonder.

Jason Todd, the second person to assume the role of Batman’s sidekick Robin. Jason Todd had a completely different personality than the original Robin. Rash and prone to ignore Batman’s instructions, Jason is always quick to act without regard to consequences. In this fatal instance, Robin ignores his mentor’s warnings when he attempts to take on The Joker by himself and pays the ultimate price. Driven by anger with Superman by his side, Batman seeks his vengeance as he looks to end the Joker’s threat forever.

DC Wiki

The flick was originally released in 2009. If you’re looking for blow away production values this may not be the short film for you. Why is it in Follies Picks? You have to understand that back in 2009 there really weren’t a lot of Fan Films online like there are as of this writing in 2017. It was actually more fun back then trying to track any these films down. Today, one just needs to jump on YouTube and there are countless amounts of them. Most of them pretty bad. That’s what makes Batman: A Death In The Family special.

Nothing can be found on the filmmakers themselves. They seem to have disappeared into obscurity as most classic Fan Film makers do. After all, 99% of these creators are just the regular Joes and Janes like you and I that have to toddle off to reality and those wretched jobs.

Check the video out. Keep an open mind. And keep in mind in was made in 2009. Many things have changed in eight years.
