The Rocketeer is a superhero homage to Saturday matinee heroes of the 1930s and 1940s created by writer/illustrator Dave Stevens. I’m sure you’re aware that a 1991 feature length film was released by Walt Disney Pictures based on the character. In my opinion the movie is a classic, but at the time of release didn’t do so well at the theater. My first experience with the character was a comic book put out by the now defunct Comico at a time when I was trying to find something new that wasn’t published by either Marvel or DC. Unfortunately, the frequency of a Rocketeer comic was few and far between. In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Disney live action adaptation a chap named animator John Banana has released a two minute animated fan film that is an amazing treat.
