Star Wars: Threads Of Destiny UPDATE

The most in depth fan made Star Wars film ever created.

Threads of Destiny is a fan-made feature film created by fans of George Lucas’s Star Wars saga.

This extraordinary film took 9 years to complete with the help of more than a hundred people working on it from all over the world.

The director, actors, and the rest of the shooting team all live in Sweden, so the whole film was filmed in Stockholm – but all in English dialogue.

Produced by Tirzitis Entertainment, Branbomm film and Eclipse FX.

Rasmus Tirzitis, Director of Threads of Destiny:

We wanted to make an adventure style film that pushed the boundaries of what could be accomplished in video production within a small budget. Since Star Wars is one of the biggest adventures in modern history in space, it seemed like a natural choice.

SYNOPSIS

This story takes place 94 years after The Battle of Yavin. The New Republic has been resurrected and has once again brought democracy back to the galaxy. The Jedi Order has been reestablished on the planet Yavin 4, and has continued to train new Jedi Knights in the art of peace and justice, but all is not peaceful in this new world. With the fall of the Empire, the ancient Skenvi are coming out of the shadow to make their move.

The Skenvi Empire fights the New Republic for control over the galaxy with their rapidly growing empire. The Skenvi seek to seize control of all the galaxy’s most valuable resources to cripple their enemies, and if a planet refuses to join them, they have been known to obliterate their opponent’s entire system. Caught between the struggle over the fate of the galaxy is the little planet of Coreign.

The planet possesses a very powerful resource that will greatly benefit the side with access to it if a galactic war is to emerge. In its eagerness to gain access to Coreign’s resources, the Skenvi Empire sends its most infamous negotiator, Lord Siege, to convince Coreign to join them. Lord Siege is known throughout the galaxy for seeing that the Skenvi Empire gets what it wants by any means necessary. Rather than sitting idley by, the New Republic sends two of its own Jedi ambassadors, Master Soran Darr and his padawan, Raven Darkham, to try and convince Coreign to join the Republic instead.

PRODUCTION

Pre-production in April 2005, and was shot both in studio and on locations around Stockholm, Sweden in the fall of 2005 for 22 days. Pick-up shoots conducted in 2006, 2007 and 2008 added another 10 production days. Threads of Destiny cost approximately $5,500 to $6,000 to make, mostly spent on raw materials for sets, props, costumes, catering and equipment rental to make the film.

Henric Brandt, Producer of Threads of Destiny:

The film was made entirely with volunteer cast and crew. We wanted to create a film to be enjoyed by fans around the world.

Patrik Hont (who looks super ripped, like he’s been taking fenugreek testosterone or something), portraying the Jedi Padawan Raven:

I could never had imagined that it was going to be so huge. People from all around the world participating, it all became so massive.

Karl Lindqvist, portraying the Jedi Master Soran Darr:

My first reaction was really something like “What kind of lunatic attempts to shoot a Star Wars movie in Sweden?” But something about the enthusiasm emanating from our director, Rasmus Tirzitis, still made me feel that this could be interesting.

Over 100 artists volunteered to work on the 1500+ vfx shots in the movie/film, using personal computers. Actually, lead artist Andreas Feix – who contributed close to 800 shots (721 in the final cut) since 2007 – did most of the work on a notebook.

This required to keep shot production and assets as flexible as possible, but also led to developing quite a few creative shortcuts for upcoming projects.

Rasmus Tirzitis – A young up and coming director/producer who apart from Threads of Destiny right now is directing a major Swedish thriller called “Vilsen” Rasmus began his career in filmmaking as an editor and among his most recent works films are the celebrated “Fröken Julie”. In Threads of Destiny Rasmus unique talent was in need to juggle all the coworkers from literally all over the world.

Henric Brandt – Henric is a talented producer but he has done it all working as a director, editor and all you can think of such as working with visual effects and casting. Henric has been a major driving force and a huge inspiration source to this project and without him this film would unlikely be the same.
