Laughing Man

We continue down the long line of Batman inspired fan films. Along with the likes of Star Wars and Star Trek it seems the majority of what is released in the form of these productions is the exploration of these characters. With such a rich universe to play with it there’s no doubt as to why these three franchises still get picked at in the fan community.

This fan film is about the comic book character The Joker by The Hallivis Brothers. The video is NSFW and it’s inspired by Scott Snyder’s ‘Death of the Family’ comic.

This Joker psychological thriller rolled into a fan film definitely has that Silence of the Lambs vibe with the Hannibal Lecter part now going to the Clown Prince of Crime. We’ve seen these types of thrillers countless times before – some very awesome and some not so awesome. For instance, Lambs is a cinematic masterpiece while the follow-up, Hannibal, was pretty terrible.

Capable actors fill out the acting parts in the short film with resumes that reach into productions you’ve may have seen. This is definitely an experienced group of talented people who put together a twenty-minute exploration of the Batman mythos definitely introducing a little anarchy, upsetting the established order and making everything turn into chaos. The crew behind The Laughing Man are agents of chaos.

The Laughing Man is kind of disgusting at the end. I won’t give anything away accept just think Jerome Valeska if you happen to be a fan of Gotham. You remember what happened to him the past couple seasons with the whole face thing? That whole idea is rinsed and repeated kind of in a graphic way.

So have a little song. Have a little dance. Think of Batman’s head on a lance. And while doing that check out the eerie, creepy Jokeresque fan film.
