When we first spoke with Roger his ambitious six part series was just premiering online with episode one. He has sense concluded releasing his epic Spider-Man fan films and joins us to give insight into the long production journey he embarked. He’ll certainly go down in the history books of the fan film archives producing what is the most ambitious Spidey fan film series to date.

You may of noticed this year the podcast episodes have been few and far between. I have to give a giant thank you to our very own JE Smith for the help in filling out those big gaps between Fan Film Follies Podcasts. The excuse for the lack of episodes is an easy answer…time. We’re working on a solution for that! Very soon we’ll be hosting the podcast live and unedited via TalkShoe every other week to be broadcast Wednesday or Thursday. We’ll have more details soon. This way instead of having to spend the time to edit, schedule guests, massively prepare…we’ll be able to open up the conversation to all fan film lovers.

In stark contrast to many recent fan film productions — in which the filmmakers seem compelled to publicize their every move on internet chat boards, long before they’ve shot even a single frame of video — the slick new production Doctor Who: Alternate Empire seemed to pop up out of nowhere. The first episode was posted on YouTube on September 22, 2009, with little initial fanfare, but eventually the fans took notice. Almost exactly a year later, the second episode was finally released, and two more have come out since, with the concluding fifth chapter imminent. With high production values, good performances, and — perhaps most intriguingly — a storyline that crosses over with the Star Wars universe, Alternate Empire has emerged as one of the classiest Who fan productions in many a moon.

The project is the brainchild of L.A.-based actor Julian Bane, who wrote the script and plays the role of the Doctor. We spoke with Bain by phone on March 7, 2011. Thanks again to David Nagel of the UK for audio file assistance.

He’s the only one we’ve interviewed that makes a return appearance to the show. First time out we discussed his Harry Potter fan film “James Potter and the Hall of Elders’ Crossing”. Now we have the sequel titled “James Potter and the Curse of the Gatekeeper”. Both films are actually based on fan film fiction series written by the very talented Mister George Norman Lippert who appeared with Kellen on our aforementioned show. This time out composer Isaias Garcia joins Kellen to discuss his contributions to the James Potter world.

As Mr. Moshier and Fanboy Will take a brief break from podcasting (come back soon, gentlemen!), it falls to me, JE Smith, to provide the first podcast of the new year, and the first Doctor Who-themed podcast here at Fan Film Follies! Our guest for this installment is John Reid Adams, the star, writer, and co-producer of the outstanding new fan film A Survivor’s Triangle, which can be seen here. If you haven’t seen it yet, stop reading now and go watch! It is one of the most impressive efforts of the past few years.

Thanks to our good pal David Nagel in the UK who did a little bit of cleanup on the audio.

This addition of the award winning Fan Film Podcast is…ok…we’ve never won any awards. In fact we’ve never even been close to be nominated for anything. Our efforts are clearly ignored by the mass media and most people in general. So in this addition of the very underrated and under appreciated Fan Film Podcast Fanboy Will talks about his experiences and offers up some interviews from this year’s New York Comic Con that took place October 8th through the 10th at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

Fanboy Will did record the panel for the Syfy series Riese. Unfortunately, the audio of the panel is often times hard to hear so we decided to leave it off the new episodes of the Podcast. Instead we’ll offer the audio as a separate file for anyone who really wants to gander a listen. You can make out what’s being said, but in some parts you really have to pay attention to get what the panelists are saying.

Interviews that are included on the Podcast are Vixens of Virtue Vixens of Vice creator Rob Longo as well as actor Corey Feldman. Plus we get stories of all Will’s adventures at the convention.

This will be the last Podcast of 2010. We’ll be back sometime in late winter or early spring of 2011 to bring you all new interviews with the talents behind some great fan films. Both Will and I extend a very happy holiday and hope you’ll keep visiting us both at the Fan Film Follies and Fanboy Theatre as we make our regular updates into the new year.

PEACE!

It’s always a fun time of year here in the North East of the United States. That is until the snow begins to fall. Hard to believe the American Thanksgiving is only a couple short weeks away and then that whole Christmas thing will be upon us. So with all that said we’ll probably only have a couple shows for you the rest of the year. We already have some quality interviews lined up for 2011 so keep an ear out for those.

The next couple Fan Film Podcasts will have Fanboy Will’s experiences, interviews, and panels from a couple conventions he went to this past October in New York City. I’m sure all you intune comic book fans know the ones I speak of. They’re, of the course, the Wizard Big Apple Comic Con and the New York Comic Con at Jacob K. Javits Center. We start off with the Wizard Con where Will speaks with artist Mike McKone. The second half of the show we bring you the original Batman Television Show Panel with guests Adam West and Bruce Ward.

When I was in High School in the late 80′s there was a miniature golf course that also housed several of the leading coin operated platform games of the time. One of those games was Street Fighter with the object of choosing various characters with different special moves in order to beat the crap out of your opponent. It was addicting. It also was a concept screaming longevity spinning into cartoons, comic books and live action movies. Little did this punk teenager know in the 80′s playing this game that about twenty some years later he would not only be co-hosting a podcast on this thing called the internet, not only covering this bizarre genre known as the fan film, but would also be talking to people who’ve made an actual live action Street Fighter productions to the quality of any mainstream feature film. And even if I did have some sneaking suspicions I sure the hell wouldn’t think it would be a musical.

I give you (along with Fanboy Will) writer/producer Jennifer Zhang, director Hugh Jardon, and fight choreographer William Magno Alejandrino. They’re three of the forces behind “Street Fight High The Musical”, a bizarre parody fan film that cleverly works.

Ever hear of the term organized chaos? This podcast is it. If you can even figure out what’s going on in the first five minutes then you’re a step ahead of the persona that’s actually editing the thing. But have no fear. If you can make it through the beginning we quickly get on the correct track of common sense. If you hadn’t guessed through the opening a tornado made its way through the streets of New York the evening of the recording making a mess of a Podcast more messy. But as always somehow we pulled it off and bring you an almost coherent episode.

Our guests this time out on the Fan Film Podcast are fellow New Yorkers, Writer/Director Alex Valderana and actor Jon Caballero. Alex discusses his previously released Batman fan film called Hothouse as well as his currently in production Nightwing web series titled a Escalations starring Jon as the aforementioned character.

And as always we go into our stereotypical tangents of all that is fanboy (and girl) worthy.

This is part one of a two part interview with Alex and Jon

I was perusing through the website Craig’s List one fine evening and found a posting under “gigs” I was most interested in. A short science fiction film by the name of VOX was being produced locally by a group of RIT film students. Thinking this would be a fine opportunity to take a peek at what happens in the making of these short films Fanboy Will and I cover on our Podcast I thought it prudent to heed the call of actors wanted. A day or so (it may of been a week) after my audition I was surprised to of gotten a call from the VOX crew with an offer for a part in their film. I was giddy with teenage excitement.

Michael Fox is the mastermind behind VOX which I learned in this interview is technically a fan film loosely based on the role playing game Warhammer. What the Fox Man and crew were able to do on their meager budget is nothing, but inspiring. And what professionals! We shot for two days in ten degree (or below) weather. Fox and team not only knew what shots they wanted, but also knew how to keep their talent fat, almost warm, and happy.

So put on your 70-year-old World War II jumpsuit, grab your Nerf gun and get ready for this episode of the Fan Film Podcast.
